I love this car--so far
By Rick L | on Tuesday, April 06, 2021
I just drove off the lot today in my new 2021 Accent SEL, after trading in my 2020 Elantra SEL, given that the Elantra's been in for servicing 3 times in one year with under 6500 miles on it. The 2020 Elantra has had 37 complaints with the NHTSA. I had to have TCU/ECU updates, an actuator replaced, and a range sensor replaced. FORGET IT...it was time to say goodbye to that car. There's good and bad about every car, but from my research, the Accent is Hyundai's most reliable car, and a reliable car in general, and it certainly gets good gas mileage. I don't know why some experts complain that the performance is sluggish. I drove 80 miles back from the dealership today, and the Accent had more zippy performance than the Elantra I traded in. There's also been complaining about outside noise coming into the cabin while highway driving. I'm certainly not experiencing that. My Accent has no more wind noise, etc. than the Elantra. Although the interior is roomy ...no less roomy than the Elantra(in the front seats anyway), I gave a 4-star for comfort because I haven't determined if the seat's lumbar support is good enough for longer driving distances. However, my Accent has tilt/telescopic on the steering wheel, so I didn't totally adjust that properly before leaving the dealership, so it'll probably adjust my posture to a better position when I do. The bottom line is that I gave up a car with the bells and whistles of blind spot monitor, lane assist(which I never used anyway), and rear cross traffic alert, because reliability's more important to me. Reliability and good gas mileage are the two main things I seek out when car buying, and with a very good track record of reliability and with the good gas mileage I've found in this vehicle, the Accent was an ideal choice for me. Plus, you're getting a 5-year/60,000 basic warranty, 10 year/100,000 drivetrain warranty, 7 year/unlimited miles perforation warranty, 5 years of roadside assistance, and 3 years of maintenance. I'm sure I've made a smart decision in purchasing the 2021 Accent.… - 5.0

Nice

My commute is 70 to 100 miles per day. I was blowing through good used cars and needed an inexpensive car with 0 miles and a robust warranty. I could not be happier. I've been driving since the 1980's and I've driven nearly everything. I've had 400 hp muscle cars both classic and modern. I've had cars with more bells and whistles than I needed. This Accent was a breath of fresh air. It has the CVT trans and though not a tire burner the power is ready and waiting. It gets up to speed very easily. Some other modern vehicles with conventional automatics have considerable delays between pressing the accelerator and moving. This does not, and that makes the acceleration, thus lane changing and merging so much more effortless and SAFER. I have the SE and it has all of the options that are needed. All of the controls are at hand and in the right place. I also have a 2017 Ford Escape and that car is just awkward and disappointing. I use the cruise control considerably and this car responds well to it as if it adjusts engine speed because it knows it's in control. The MPG meter is more often pegged at 50+ than lower. My mixed mileage thus far is 37 mpg and that's 50/50 city and highway. My average miles per hour is still a low 25, so I think it will improve. I really like the seat and seating position. We fit 4 adults in it, two big boys in the front and two average girls in the back. It rides fine and the noise isn't obnoxious. It's not a Cadillac but it's a better commuter car that will last just as long, if not longer. This is ideal for those who don't need to take their living room to work. I look forward to racking up the miles.…
